It is our pleasure to announce that the third BALEAP Assessment Roadshow will take place on the 13th December from 13.00 to 14.30pm (UK time). The session will be delivered by Dr Chihiro Inoue and it will build on the previous two workshops exploring the area of AI and Assessment.
Here are more details for Workshop 3:

WHERE & WHEN: The workshop will take place online (Teams) on the 13th December from 13.00 – 14.30 (UK time)
PRESENTER: The workshop will be delivered by Dr. Chihiro Inoue, Associate Professor in Language Assessment at the Centre for Research in English Language Learning and Assessment (CRELLA) at the University of Bedfordshire, UK. With a strong interest in learner language, Dr. Inoue has led numerous projects focused on developing and refining assessment criteria that accurately capture the characteristics of learner language across different proficiency levels.
TOPICExploring practical strategies for using ChatGPT to enhance grading and feedback
In this hands-on webinar, participants will explore practical strategies for using ChatGPT to enhance grading and feedback processes in English language assessments. The main focus will be on how ChatGPT can be used to analyse and provide feedback on written performances, simulating the grading process. Using some published learner performances, participants will compare their own grading with ChatGPT’s feedback, learning how to refine and improve the AI’s suggestions to make them more useful and actionable for students.
We will also explore how to fine-tune the feedback generated by ChatGPT to align more closely with established grading criteria, ensuring that AI can support teachers effectively without replacing their essential role.
In preparation for the webinar, participants should create a free ChatGPT account at https://chat.openai.com/ if they don’t have one yet.
REGISTRATION: If you would like to attend, please register by clicking on this link.  The Teams link will be sent to you before the event.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 13th.
