We are looking for enthusiastic, flexible, UK-based tutors for short online EAP courses. Courses are six to eleven weeks in length and are offered throughout the year.

We in the English Language Centre for Overseas Students (ELCOS) will support you by providing a detailed but flexible syllabus and two days of paid induction. Although you may be based anywhere in the UK, you will have regular online contact from the ELCOS team and find us a friendly, supportive bunch.

You will be employed on the university’s casual worker system and offered blocks of teaching work, usually six weeks at a time. Our next course is expected to run from March 4th to April 10th this year, with six days break for Easter.

Duties will include:
• teaching on our online pre sessional English course.
• weekly assignment marking and feedback.
• administering and marking of final examinations.
• attendance at induction and coordination and standardisation meetings.

Candidates should:

• Have TEFLQ status, possessing either ELT Diploma or a master’s degree in a relevant subject.

• Have at least two years’ experience teaching EAP or ELT.

• Ability to use online meeting platforms such as Microsoft Teams for teaching.

• Ability to use a wide range of multimedia systems and integrate them with your teaching.

Candidates will need to have a quiet professional space to work from and to supply their own hardware and internet connection with the minimum specifications as minimum:

• Windows 10 on 64-bit platform or Mac OS X 10.15
• CPUs newer than 2011 (Intel Sandy Bridge or newer).
• Open GL 2.0 graphics driver
• Local storage of 10Gbs
• Web camera and microphone
• Broadband speed 10Gb down 1.5 up

The successful candidate will be expected to commence 4th March 2024 or later depending on student numbers.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.

This role will be coordinated from our campus in Bangor but due to the online nature of the work, all work can be carried out from anywhere in the UK.
