Applications are invited from experienced and qualified ELT/EAP tutors to join our thriving International Summer School. You will join a supportive teaching environment where a comprehensive week-long induction programme is provided.
The ELTC is a section of Student Services responsible for the provision of language courses and language support to international students. The appointees will join a large team delivering pre-sessional EAP English courses to students planning to join degree programmes at the University of Sheffield.
Posts are fixed-term starting 19th June 2017 for 11 weeks (1 week induction plus 10 weeks teaching) or 17th July 2017 for 7 weeks (1 week induction plus 6 weeks teaching). Posts are fixed-term with teaching continuing until 1st September 2017. Please indicate on your application which date(s) you are applying for.
Full time and part time hours are available including up to 20 hours teaching per week.
Salary for this grade: £ 30,175 to £ 38,183 per annum. Successful candidates will be appointed on this scale depending on qualifications and experience. Pro rata holiday will be paid after the end of the teaching period.
Temporary University accommodation is provided free of charge for candidates from outside the area.
Qualifications
1. First degree or equivalent (Essential)
2. TEFLQ status as recognised by the British Council, e.g. DELTA or equivalent; or CELTA + relevant MA (Essential)
3. Higher degree in relevant subject e.g. ELT, Applied Linguistics etc. (Desirable)
Experience
1. At least 3 years relevant teaching experience (Essential)
2. Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes, EAP (Desirable)
3. Teaching experience within a Higher Education environment (Desirable)
4. Experience in Exams Preparation, Cambridge ESOL and IELTS (Desirable)
5. Current IELTS Examiner (Desirable)
