The EAP Practitioner in the Academy – A Watershed Moment?
On Saturday 20th May, the English Language Centre at the University of Durham will be hosting a one-day symposium as part of EAP in the North, entitled ‘The EAP Practitioner in the Academy – A Watershed Moment?’.
Two guest speakers will be providing the core input for the day: Dr Alex Ding (Leeds) and Dr Gregory Hadley (Niigata University, Japan / Oxford). Alex is author, with Dr Ian Bruce, of The English for Academic Purposes Practitioner: Operating on the Edge of Academia (forthcoming 2017, Palgrave Macmillan). Greg is author of English for Academic Purposes in Neoliberal Universities: A Critical Grounded Theory (2015, Springer). Key themes for the day will be the marketisation of HE, the impacts of this for the everyday working practices of EAP professionals (inside and outside the classroom), and the individual and collective actions we might take going forwards.
Details and the registration form can be found via the
EAP in the North website, and also directly on the
Durham website. This event is FREE to attend but places are limited to 50, so be sure to book your place promptly!
