Job Profile
We are seeking an Academic Manager for EAP to manage the Oxford International’s EAP provision for Liverpool Hope University. The Academic Manager will also be an essential person in all communications with the university.
This is a permanent, full-time position based face-to-face in Liverpool, UK. The successful candidate would report to the Head of EAP at Oxford International.
Main duties and responsibilities
Teaching
Initially, some teaching on in-sessional programmes will be required
Academic support for students in the form of 1:1 scheduled sessions
Academic Management
Assisting with planning, preparing and delivering induction sessions as directed by the Head of EAP.
Oversee the day-to-day running of the Liverpool Hope language programmes.
Supporting and managing the staff in terms of material and delivery expectations, platform use, and academic administration; co-producing staff handbooks.
Revising and delivering assessment and final exams; collating and releasing results
Updating existing material to ensure it meets industry standards and remains relevant and engaging to students.
Contributing to the ongoing innovative process of development of new programmes.
Take initiative in exploring new delivery routes and platforms.
Conducting observations and CPDs to ensure high academic standard are delivered
Support Academic Recruitment Process
Identifying suitable candidates from applications
Interviewing shortlisted candidates when necessary.
Maintaining professionalism throughout.
Other
Assuming responsibility for further developing and nurturing working relationship with the university
Partaking in Oxford International inset and conference days.
Support other departments as needed e.g., deliver language sessions or workshops for other departments, cooperate with the sales team etc., represent and promote the department favourably at every opportunity as directed.
Gain an understanding of relevant accreditation requirements and contribute to any accreditation process as directed by the Head of EAP.
Person specification
Essential:
Eligibility to live and work in in the UK
Undergo an Enhanced DBS disclosure check or overseas equivalent
Native or near native level of English speaking and writing.
Undergraduate degree in any discipline
CELTA. Trinity TESOL and / or QTS in English or a Modern Foreign Language with ELT subsidiary
Teaching experience across a variety of levels.
Experience teaching EAP
Experience of establishing and maintaining effective academic administration systems and quality assurance procedures
Experience with managing a team and working with staff at all levels.
Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
Experience of delivering presentations confidently and effectively.
Good numeracy and literacy skills.
Have a positive and proactive attitude to work.
Demonstrate high levels of professionalism.
A drive to work collaboratively with fun, likeminded people and contribute to team success.
To be constantly aware of improving standards and adapt to them where possible.
Desirable
Experience of working in a university PSE setting or equivalent.
Experience of using a variety of platforms for online delivery
Experience with language exams – systems and student preparation.
Experience with material development
DELTA or Trinity Dip. TESOL or MA TESOL
